This summer’s Starlite Festival in Marbella will be headlined by internationally renowned superstars Tom Jones, the Pet Shop Boys and The Beach Boys.
Entering only its third year, Marbella’s Starlite Festival has quickly earned for itself a reputation as one of Spain’s most glamorous music gatherings, and will this year take place between July 23 and August 23 at the stunning Marbella Auditorium.
Last year’s event raised the bar when Spanish heartthrob Julio Iglesias headlined, joined by the ever effervescent Buenavista Social Club. But this year’s lineup promises to set the pulses racing even faster, with Welsh troubadour Tom Jones perhaps the pick of the bunch…The Beach Boys, meanwhile, will be bringing their wistful, sunny melodies to Marbella for the very first time, opening the festival on July 23. Few could argue there is any finer backdrop for a rendition of Good Vibrations than the sun-dappled visage of Marbella at dusk.
Joining Tom Jones, The Beach Boys and the Pet Shop Boys will be US soul and disco funk group Kool & the Gang (most famous for their song, Ladies Night), power diva Gloria Gaynor (who will no doubt belt out a well-received rendition of her 1979 classic, I Will Survive) and a returning Julio Iglesias.
Such a star-studded lineup is a testament to the Starlite Festival’s fusion of fashion, art, music, film and gastronomy, marking a month-long celebration of summer and Spanish culture, and gaining a growing acceptance on the festival circuit as an event to keep an eye on.
In addition to the festivities, the Starlite Festival also plays host to the Starlite Gala, an annual charity event founded and hosted by local Hollywood A-lister Antonio Banderas that has since become the largest charity in Spain. The Starlite Gala evening will this year take place on August 9.
