One of the world’s biggest, brashest and most recognisable pop stars enjoyed a cycle ride along the Marbella paseo last week – and turned barely a single head.
Lady Gaga, renowned for her outlandish dress sense and fierce onstage persona, was a demure sight as she donned an all-black outfit to pedal along Marbella’s famously sedate beachside promenade…
Hidden behind dark sunglasses and shorn of all makeup, only the hardiest of hardcore fans would have been able to recognise her at first glance. But thanks to the efforts of a rather committed – and no doubt saddle sore – pap, the world was able to see that it was, in fact, the Poker Face star powering her way towards Puerto Banús.
Lady Gaga had been in Spain as part of her artRave world tour, and managed to find time in Marbella to take a couple of days off to relax and enjoy the beautiful climate, stunning scenery and luxurious hotels.
The break seems to have done the 28-year-old singer the world of good, too. As she left to continue her tour in the UK, Gaga posted a series of pics of Marbella on to her Instagram account, with one captioned with the following gushing review: “Goodbye Marbella, your beautiful oceans sunshines and friendliness have rejuvenated me and Asia.”
Lady Gaga’s reluctance to leave Marbella is understandable. As a world-famous pop star weaned on the world’s finest hotels, foods, climate and entourage, Marbella is more than a match for Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Miami or London.
What’s more, the resort is well-versed in catering for the needs of international megastars, meaning every A-list popstar, movie star and football star can enjoy privacy, peace and top-notch service.
Nonetheless, such is Marbella’s laid-back charm and welcoming, safe atmosphere, most superstars feel comfortable and confident enough to show their face and mingle in the bars, restaurants and clubs for which the resort is famous.
In Gaga’s case, the fresh Mediterranean air and warm sunshine proved to be her beckon call, and all she needed was a hire bike, a pair of shades and a couple of pals in order to blend into the background.
Because in Marbella, famous faces are pretty much everywhere…

Marbella is kind of like a cut-price Monaco, but with the added bonus of the beaches which make the Costa del Sol so famous. It's a good place for holidays and spends your free time here to take yourself away from the anxiety of life.
