Prestigious Finca Cortesín – home of the Volvo World Match Play Championships in 2009, 2011 and 2012 – has been voted the best golf resort in Europe.

With more than 70 golf courses throughout the province of Málaga, it comes as no surprise that the Costa del Sol – aka ‘The Costa del Golf’ – is Europe’s top destination for golfers, and over the years the accolades have just kept on coming…

This time, according to a recent poll by golfing website Leading Courses, the prestigious Casares-based Finca Cortesín – home of the Volvo World Match Play Championships in 2009, 2011 and 2012 – has been voted the best golf resort in Europe. Portugal’s Monte Rei Golf & Country Club was the runner-up, with Rockliffe Hall Hotel Golf & Spa in County Durham (UK) ranking third.

Meanwhile, other Costa del Sol golf resorts making the Leading Courses Top 100 for 2017 are Villa Padierna (situated in the triangle formed by Marbella, Estepona and Benahavís) in 24th place, and La Cala Resort (58th).

With a total of 17, Spain had the highest number of golf resorts featuring in the Top 100 overall, followed in second place by England with 15 resorts making the list, while Portugal came third with 13.
