A report published on Monday by Spain’s Property Registrars confirms that during Q4 of last year, foreign purchasers accounted for 13.6% of Spanish property transactions – representing the highest percentage recorded for the last eight consecutive quarters – while for 2017 as a whole, the figure stood at 13.1%, equating to slightly more than 61,000 homes…
Despite the uncertainties that continue to engulf Brexit, Britons again led the charge in Q4, amounting to a 15.6% share of foreign demand, followed – though at some considerable distance – by the French on 8.2%, Germans with 7.8%, Swedish (7.1%), and Belgians (6.8%).
The report also shows that over the year, property prices increased by 7.6% in 2017, and that while in previous years the purchase of resale properties grew as that of new build homes decreased, the trend was reversed last year with demand for both types of housing increasing – by 15.8% in the case of the former and the latter up by 11.3%.
