Latest data from the Ministry of Development shows that the first two months of 2018 yielded a 14.7% increase in the number of building licences approved for residential projects in Spain compared with the same period last year. This is yet more encouraging news for the Spanish construction sector, which continues to build on its increased output in 2017…
These figures also show that, in February alone, the number of homes for which building permits were granted was as high as 8,305, which represents a 26.9% increase in comparison with February 2017. This upward trend in construction was reciprocated by an increase in home buying, as a surge in property transactions in February saw the highest property purchase figures for that month since 2011.
The Ministry of Development’s statistics – far from just painting a rosy picture of construction activity in the first two months of 2018 – also illustrate a continued year-on-year increase in the number of building licences granted in Spain in each of the last 14 months.
What’s more, the proliferation of new construction companies registered in Spain is further proof – if it were needed – that the property market is well and truly back on track and that confidence is soaring regarding new build developments.
