A recent report by Spain’s Ministry of Development finds that in the first six months of this year, 7 out of 10 properties purchased by foreign buyers in Andalucía were located in the province of Málaga.

Equating to a total of 4,978 transactions, this figure represents an increase of 16.9% when compared with the same semester in 2015.

At regional level, the number of properties snapped up by foreign purchasers in Andalucía as a whole rose 18.9%, up from 5,973 transactions in the first six months of 2015 to 7,105 during the same period in 2016.

With all Andalusian provinces trailing way behind Málaga in terms of the number of properties bought by non Spaniards, Almería registered 797 real estate transactions (up 33.7% on the first semester of 2015); Granada 409 (an increase of 13.9%); Cádiz 405 (up 4.6%); Sevilla 262 (an increase of 47.1%); Huelva 126 (up 23.5%); Jaén 79 (a growth of 49%); while Córdoba was in last place with 49 transactions (up 16.6%).
