The variety of attractions in Andalucia make it a perennial favourite for holidaymakers all year-round

This year continues its onward march to become the best year yet for Spanish tourism as recent figures released by the country’s Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism reveal that more tourists visited Andalucia last month than ever before…Overall, the region attracted 825,000 overseas visitors in October. This was a rise of 11.2 per cent on last year, and pushed the total number of tourists to visit Andalucia for the year past 7.7 million.

These record-breaking figures continue a trend that was first recognised mid-way through 2013, when economies around the world had recovered sufficiently to make holidays and travel a viable option once more for previously cash-strapped citizens.

On a national scale, Spain has attracted 58.3 million international tourists so far this year – an increase of 7.5 per cent on 2013, putting the country on course to smash its own record, and confirming that Spain is indeed the most popular tourist destination in Europe.

Once again, British holidaymakers have led the way, with more than 13.8 million Brits visiting Spain in the first ten months of the year. This was a rise of 5.6 per cent, while the number of French visitors has risen by an even more impressive 11.8 per cent, reaching 9.5 million.

However, German holidaymakers have seen their numbers dwindle this year, falling 6.2 per cent on 2013 to 9.5 million.
