Yep, VIVA Wonder Woman has done it again! Not content with taking part in the Marbella Half Marathon back in September 2013, our Victoria has been spurred on to greater things and earlier this month participated in the 5th edition of the Málaga Cabberty Marathon, again running for Cancer Research UK in memory of her mother who sadly lost her battle against cancer 20 years ago…

But although it’s her most recent Marathon, it’s not her first by a long mile. She also raced along the streets of Málaga in December 2013, and ran the Madrid Marathon in April of this year, as well.

To be honest, what with 4 four young children, a demanding job as a member of the VIVA Customer Services Team, and also finding time to help her husband run his business, we don’t know how she does it!

Bringing the city to a standstill, over 3,000 runners took part in the Málaga Marathon on 7 December which attracted 1,000 more entrants than last year, including world champions Abel Antón and Martin Fitz.

Cancer Research UK logo“It was very cold, with a bitter wind,” says Victoria. “But once the sun was up at about 8.45am, it gradually got warmer. The atmosphere was amazing, club athletes motivate you, as do all the people calling out your name as you run past, and the views of the city are absolutely stunning.

“It was a different route this year. I think it was easier than last year’s, but maybe that’s because I’m used to running longer distances now and my body copes with it better. My official time was 5 hours, 5 minutes and 9 seconds – 10 minutes less than for the Madrid Marathon. Like always, my brother-in-law, Robert Crane, ran too and he crossed the finishing line in 4 hours, 24 minutes.

“I started training for Málaga in September… 3 to 4 hours a week to begin with, and 5 hours weekly towards the end. I’d like to do more but just don’t have the time.

“I’d love to do Madrid again, and hopefully I’ll be taking part in the Seville Marathon in February. I’m happy to run anywhere really, as long as there aren’t any hills!”
