Marenostrum Festival 2019
Everyone knows that music is the perfect accompaniment to great weather and long, balmy summer evenings. In this spirit, Costa del Sol concerts have started in earnest and the latest offering of summer-long live music in Fuengirola is the Marenostrum Festival in the Sohail Castle grounds.
The festival, which has already seen Finnish-Swedish soloist Jari Sillanpää and the legendary Bob Dylan take to the stage in 2019, comprises various concert dates that go on through to the very end of August.
Best names in international music
Like its more glamorous cousin, Starlite Festival in Marbella, Marenostrum attracts all the big names. The same as every year, the world’s best-known and most-loved artists are coming to the Costa del Sol in summer 2019, with live music in Fuengirola representing many different genres.
The biggest names in Spanish pop music like Manuel Carrasco, Leiva, Aitana and Izal all have dates at Marenostrum, while there are also festivals for lovers of rock/heavy metal, reggae, Latin and reggaeton music. There is even a “Back to the 90s” themed concert featuring Ace of Base and DJ Sash! as part of its line-up. Amazing, right?
Festival highlights
Perhaps the pick of the names on show at these top-notch Costa del Sol concerts is the “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy?” star, Rod Stewart, who is reported to own a mansion in the ultra-exclusive La Zagaleta estate in Benahavís, where Vladamir Putin and Hugh Grant also have luxury villas.
The “Maggie May” singer-songwriter, who has been making music for six decades and has sold over 200 million records, takes to the stage on Wednesday 3rd July and will delight fans will all his hits from yesteryear plus tracks from his latest album, “Blood Red Roses”.
What’s more, arguably the world’s best electronic music DJ and music producer, Carl Cox, will be spinning records for an entire evening on Saturday 22nd June as part of his 2019 European tour, which also includes Spanish dates in Madrid, Barcelona and Ibiza.
Nicknamed the King Of Ibiza, Carl Cox is a veteran of the dance music, techno, acid house and electro scene, and the addition of his show to Marenostrum’s programme makes it one of the most eagerly-awaited Costa del Concerts in recent times.
