Eco-houses? Myth, trend or the future of new properties?
We hear a lot about ecology and Eco-houses, but most of us, when we are asked to be environmentally responsible on a daily basis, always think the same thing – "Of course, I take care of the environment, I recycle".
We use the appropriate bins:
- The yellow one in which we dispose of plastic containers and food packaging
- Green for glass and glass packaging
- Blue one for cardboard boxes and courier services
- Brown for organic waste from every household
In this way, we feel good about ourselves and think that we collaborate for the good of the planet.
Companies are also joining the bandwagon of ecology and environmental protection. Governments have been trying for years to make us aware of their measures to save emissions and excessive energy consumption. Car manufacturers are building electric vehicles that pollute less. New technology companies recycle devices to recover components and materials to reduce costs and not consume the planet's natural resources. Fashion designers make collections from recycled materials or dyed with dyes that do not pollute the rivers. Boats ply the rivers to prevent thousands of tonnes of rubbish and waste from going out to sea.
We could go on giving examples for hours and hours...
It seems little, ... could we do more?
Yes, and we are!
Following the trend in European and some other countries, sustainability and environmental responsibility are slowly making their way into the construction of the Eco-houses of the future. Until now, most real estate projects have been installing solar panels, glazing, and doors that maintain the temperature inside the homes, creating compost from tree pruning, and a few other measures. As a result, builders obtain better energy optimisation and owners consequently lower energy costs.
