The Russian connection - a welcome shot in the arm for the Costa del Sol

Barely had the ink had time to dry on the new agreement between Air Europa and Málaga City Hall to establish daily low-cost flights connecting Moscow and St. Petersburg with the Costa del Sol, than Vueling also announced its own initiatives.

The launch date of the Air Europa service is still to be confirmed, although following a meeting in Madrid between representatives of Málaga City Hall and the president of tour operator Globalia, Juan José Hidalgo, it’s expected to be announced imminently…

Meanwhile, as from 29 October 2013, Vueling will operate two flights each week from Moscow to Málaga with 15,500 seats for sale, “in order to meet the growing demand of the Russian market for sunshine destinations on the Spanish Mediterranean coast.”

Twice weekly Vueling flights connecting Moscow and Málaga start in October

Since the affluent Russian market is currently served solely by daily Aeroflot flights to Málaga airport, the addition of both Air Europa and Vueling will be a very welcome shot in the arm not only for Costa del Sol tourism, but for local commerce and property vendors alike.

It also comes hard on the heels of news that the Málaga Costa del Sol airport will benefit from no fewer than 22 other new and direct routes this year.
