Today marks the start of the hotly-anticipated International Fair in Fuengirola, an annual celebration of different cultures from all over the world: from Portugal to Peru, Brazil to Bulgaria and many other nations besides…
In total, 33 countries from 6 continents will participate in this year’s edition – the twenty-fourth, to date – as well as representation from areas like Madrid, the Basque Country and Valencia from within Spain. More than 1 million visitors are expected to visit the fair, held at the Fuengirola Fairground, with a programme of events starting at 1pm every day from today until next Tuesday 1st May.
Food, music and dance performances are key features of the five day, family-orientated event, which aims to raise awareness about cultural diversity, whilst elsewhere there are stands dedicated to the sale of crafts, clothes, art and souvenirs.
An added bonus is that admission to the International Fair is completely free… although it is wise to bring some coins with you, since you won’t want to pass up the opportunity of trying the vast range of international gastronomical delicacies on offer at each of the participating country’s stands.
Fuengirola is an apt location for such an event, since it has for many years embraced the social integration of expats from around the globe. In fact, data from the Andalusian Institute of Statistics and Cartography shows that Fuengirola’s expat population was 23,746 in 2017, which equates to a whopping 18.93% of the town’s total inhabitants. Where better, then, to promote cultural diversity?
Are you thinking about moving to the Costa del Sol? At VIVA, we have a wide range of Fuengirola properties for sale to suit all budgets… so if you want to join the thousands of expats who have moved to the Mediterranean coast and enjoy the region’s 320 days of sunshine, speak to our friendly team today!
