A new poll by Uniplaces has found that Spain is considered the best place to study abroad by Erasmus students.
The survey results placed Madrid in first place, while two other Spanish cities – Seville and Barcelona – featured in the top ten at places fifth and seventh respectively…
Overall, this meant that Spain had more representatives in the top ten destinations than any other country, and underlined what many had long believed – when it comes to studying abroad, Spain is hard to beat.
The criteria in the Uniplaces poll ranked each city in terms of living costs, education standards, culture, history, and – of course – nightlife, with Madrid’s famously hedonistic party scene scoring big with foreign students.
The Spanish capital is also dripping with culture, has excellent universities and transport, and is also extremely safe and affordable, meaning students’ extra-curricular worries are reduced to an absolute minimum.
Other factors that play into the hands of Spanish cities include the excellent climate, with plenty of students sure to cram in many hours of sunbathing between their studies, and the fantastic range of bars, restaurants and cafés available in all the big cities.
Spain is also a good place to learn not just Spanish, which is gaining in popularity in Europe, but also to polish one’s English, which is widely spoken throughout the country.
The country’s size and variety makes it a gem to explore, with all four corners offering something different, from the verdant mountains of the northwest to the dry and dusty deserts of the southeast.
Chuck in thousands of miles of stunning coastline and, well, who wouldn’t choose Spain as a backdrop upon which to spend the most formative and enjoyable years of your life?
