Style, comfort, class and cleanliness - La Villa Marbella Hotel deserves its accolade

Tripadvisor’s Traveller’s Choice 2013 awards have bestowed the accolade of ‘Best Service in Spain’ on the excellent La Villa Marbella Hotel in the heart of Marbella’s Old Town.

The boutique hotel, which offers just 25 rooms each inspired by a different Asian city, was also voted the 25th best hotel in Europe…

A jewel in the Costa del Sol crown, La Villa Marbella has only been open for eight years yet in that time has quickly risen to prominence in a crowded market to become recognised as the best establishment on the Coast.

The Tripadvisor award is voted for by – you guessed it – actual travellers, guests and holidaymakers. Now, if you have ever read a Tripadvisor review, you will know that posters pull no punches when it comes to their honest reviews and appraisals.

The La Villa Marbella, however, receives near-faultless feedback from pretty much all who stay there. The accompanying comment next to the hotel’s accolade on the Tripadvisor website reads: “A charming, clean, quiet and comfortable hotel in the heart of the old part of Marbella, with a friendly and efficient staff and good value for your money.”

Glowing praise indeed, and a statement that pretty much sums up what every traveller everywhere is looking for – to be able to relax in sparkling, well-run surroundings; to be able to enjoy the atmosphere; and to be able to enjoy the surrounding area. And all without breaking the bank.

Last week, Marbella mayor Ángeles Muñoz presented Marcos Torres, the hotel’s proud owner, with the award. Torres dedicated the award to the diligence and talent of his staff, with Muñoz adding: “Marbella is proud to have establishments that are doing so well, as in this case – the La Villa Marbella was selected from more than 66,000 hotels around the world.”

The Costa del Sol has some great hotels. There are the cute, boutique boltholes such as this one, right through to the sprawling, all-inclusive resorts where guests barely have to set foot outside.

The region boasts a vast amount of positives – brilliant weather, that sparkling Mediterranean, clean and safe beaches, the mountainous backdrop, stunning restaurants and bars, and probably the largest selection of property types in Europe.

Its hotels have done a brilliant job in making sure that millions of people get to experience and enjoy this blessed part of the world every year. So we all owe it to them to offer up our congratulations, and our thanks, for all the hard work they do.

It’s been a tough couple of years for Spain and the Costa del Sol – but news like this is a reminder of just why the region is one of the best places to live in the whole wide world.
