The British tabloids have gone a little bit overboard with this one, but here are the details for those still in the dark: legendary Hollywood star Robert De Niro is to expand his successful Nobu Hotel chain into Marbella, planning to open next month a new glamorous resort that is just for adults…
Of course, the phrases “Robert De Niro”, “Marbella” and “Adults-only” got the likes of The Mirror and The Sun into a bit of a tizz, but the details really aren’t as salacious as the tabloids have portrayed.
In partnering with renowned chef Nobu Matsuhisa a few years ago, De Niro began Nobu Hotels, an upmarket chain of establishments located in some of the world’s most exclusive regions. The hotels’ unique selling point – aside from the obvious sprinkling of stardust that De Niro brings – is that no children are allowed to stay at these establishments, meaning they quickly became a firm favourite with moneyed couples looking for a bonafide, child-free escape.
Having already taken the likes of Las Vegas, London, Miami, Manila, Ibiza and Sao Paulo by storm, the Marbella Nobu is set to ratchet things up a notch by combining the chain’s signature luxury and five-star service with Marbella’s exclusivity, climate and prestige.
The hotel will be located at the famous Puente Romano Beach Resort & Spa in Marbella, with Nobu lending its prestige to 81 private suites comprising terrace, king-sized beds and Natura Bisse toiletries as standard.
Nobu’s signature cuisine will also be available onsite, offering Japanese-inspired dishes that have been critically acclaimed around the world. Guests at Nobu can also access the VIP club La Suite, as well as the Six Senses Spa, which comprises steam room, sauna, hamman, hydrotherapy, plunge pools and a range of treatments.
Nobu Marbella is set to open in March. Unfortunately for would-be star-spotters, De Niro is unlikely to have the time to attend the opening in person. However, Marbella being one of the world’s most exclusive holiday resorts, do not be surprised to see the Hollywood legend make an appearance sometime soon…
