The Costa del Sol's wealth of attractions appeal to tourists and home hunters

Several new flight routes between the UK and Spain have been announced for 2013, prompting industry experts to suggest that the property market could benefit from this extra influx of tourists.

British Airways will add 17 weekly flights between Gatwick and Alicante from March, increasing to 21 flights a week for the peak summer season. Elsewhere, Monarch – based in Birmingham airport – and JetXtra will be adding new routes to Málaga and Alicante throughout 2013 too, as the low-cost carriers look to recoup their losses from the past few years by taking advantage of the strong pound.

Spain’s most popular tourist areas are also the top choice for property investors, and the Costa del Sol looks set to lead the way yet again in 2013. Property prices, which have been falling for the past five years, are widely believed to have bottomed out and are predicted to rise slowly in 2013.

Home buyers intent on getting a good deal are, therefore, being urged to check out the Costa del Sol as an ideal location for a holiday home, second property and expat destination. It is the region of Spain that offers the best balance between infrastructure, climate, lifestyle appeal, flight routes and property choice.

So whether you are after an affordable two-bedroom apartment, a stunning traditional townhouse or a luxurious villa, the Costa del Sol is the place to head.
