Our man in Nerja does it again!

It was only a little under a year ago when we here at VIVA were congratulating our all-conquering master sportsman José Cánovas on his success at the 2014 Eurochallenge Surfski & Kayak challenge in Alicante…

Not one to rest on his laurels, the VIVA Partner of our Nerja office has just recently added some more silverware to his already bursting trophy cabinet. Nerja-born José has beaten off stiff competition to be awarded the best individual sportsman over the last two years at the IX Gala Del Deporte Local (IX Local Sports Gala) in Nerja.

It wouldn’t be an understatement to say that José has something of a talent for kayaking and canoeing. Born with a paddle in his hands and with the vast sparkling waters of the Mediterranean on his doorstep, José has been competing since he was a pint-sized water baby and the real estate/kayaking maestro has spent years adding to his trophy cabinet at a prodigious rate. Already an accomplished national and European champion and member of the Spanish national sea kayak team, José picked up his latest award at a ceremony in Nerja just last week.

“There are thousands and thousands of great athletes who win races every day and it’s very difficult for a jury to consider that you – and not somebody else – are the one who deserves this recognition,” said a delighted José. We here at VIVA just want to say ‘enhorabuena!’ to our esteemed colleague and wish him further success in the future!
