Only last month, TheMoveChannel.com’s Top of the Props report showed that with Spanish real estate accounting for more than one in seven of its enquiries – equating to the country’s highest level of activity since 2013 – Spain was in pole position on the property portal’s top 10 destinations. So, here we are just a few short weeks later, and there’s more good news because Málaga province – home to our very own incomparable Costa del Sol – has shot to the first place in Q1 2017 on TheMoveChannel.com’s latest Top 50 Hotspots Index. It’s the very first time that Spain has ever been awarded the number one slot, and that’s not all…
Accounting for 4.01% of all the leading international property portal’s searches during the first three months of 2017, Málaga was up no fewer than 18 places compared with figures for the last quarter of 2016, resoundingly relegating Italy/Florence to fourth position (2.63%) in the process.
In fact, walking off with an unprecedented 31 of TheMoveChannel.com’s Top 50 Hotspots, Spain more than doubled its share of the Index in Q4 2016, to register the all-time high for any country.
Laying claim to four out of the Top 5 (Málaga, Almería, Tenerife and Benidorm), Spain was also home to eight out of the Top 10 most popular destinations – representing the highest Top 10 percentage ever held by a single country since Hotspots Index records began – while the nation scored 13 out of the Top 15 as well.
At a local level, Costa del Sol Hotspots all making it into the Top 50 included Nerja, Benalmádena, Fuengirola, La Cala de Mijas, Estepona, Marbella, Torremolinos and Mijas.
Elsewhere, Portugal accounted for eight destinations in the Top 50, followed by Italy with five and France with three
