Quality of life index: overall score Here is an interesting link, a detailed uSwitch survey has analysed 10 major European nations with a quality of life index based on a whole series of factors from incomes, retirement, healthcare, education, food, energy prices et al.

Shocking, but perhaps not surprising to many, the UK comes bottom of the pile, even below neighbours Ireland who have been suffering badly these past few years. The UK is in the last place, yes 10th; however Spain is narrowly 2nd to first place France. Although of all the countries where people would choose to live, then Spain features far and away as the highest and most favourable place to be, with double the preferences of France…

It seems the great British and Northern European love affair with Spain and particularly our own Costa del Sol is as strong as it has ever been. In fact, think about it… the vast reservoir of people dreaming, thinking and eventually moving to Spain when they feel the moment is right, it just gets bigger and bigger, as due to the recession and crisis people have not acted. One day that dam will burst upon us yet again. More than 1 million Brits have already bought a home in Spain, over the past few years the steady flow has naturally turned to a trickle. Don’t be fooled however, the same number have always wanted to come here and what is perhaps invisible is that reservoir of pent up demand and this survey kind of proves that I think.
