The Rolling Stones – 14 ON FIRE tour sees Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood returning to Madrid for one night only when they play to an audience of 54,000 at Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu Stadium on 25 June, treating their generations of fans to a set packed full of classic Stones hits such as ‘Gimme Shelter’, ‘Paint It Black’, ‘Jumping Jack Flash’, ‘Tumbling Dice’, ‘It’s Only Rock ‘N’ Roll’, plus a couple of unexpected gems…
But when tickets for the event went on sale last week, such was the sheer scale of online demand that servers crashed within minutes, thousands of frustrated fans queued for hours on high streets across Spain, and phone lines were also jammed solid.
Of course there’s always the chance – though time’s not exactly on their side – that the Stones might some day return to the Costa del Sol. There was, after all, that unforgettable gig of theirs in Málaga Port back in 1998.
The good news though is that this summer – as always – there are lots of other upcoming concerts and gigs to look forward to on and around the Costa del Sol…
Franz Ferdinand will be headlining at the 101 Sun Festival which takes place in Málaga on 10 & 11 July and Robert Plant will be taking the Málaga Bull Ring by Storm on 27 July. Running from 23 July to 23 August, Marbella‘s famous Starlite Festival will be playing host, among others, to Tom Jones, the Pet Shop Buys, the Beach Boys, Kool & The Gang, Gloria Gaynor and Julio Iglesias, and The Script are top of the bill just down the road, at the Gibraltar Music Festival on 6 September.
And if all that’s not enough for you, there’ll be plenty of other big names hitting the Coast this summer, so keep your eyes glued for more information!
