Southern Spain in March

My inspiration for this blog came from speaking to my mother on the telephone recently. She told me how the weather in England was so atrocious last week that the rain had flooded the entire road network in her part of East Sussex, to the point of eventually having to close all roads in and out.

Her story was that, on the way back home, she was faced with a huge puddle – nay, reservoir – that had already swallowed up three cars that were stranded in the middle. Heart in mouth, she proceeded and just about crossed over to the other side, thus saving her tiny Fiat 500 from being sent to Davy Jones’ Locker. Thankfully, there was a happy ending.

Anyway, this made me think. While flooded roads are the only pools springing up in the UK, staff in residential complexes here on the Costa del Sol are beginning to prepare their swimming pools for the summer season already. After all, and not to be smug, the weather in Málaga is luuurvly again…

With this in mind, I thought I’d shed some light on some of the areas of the Costa del Sol – which has seen bright sunshine and 22 degrees Celsius this week, by the way – where you’ll find an abundance of apartments in residential complexes whose pools will be ready just in time for summer...

...Perfect if you're planning your trip out to southern Spain in March to then buy within the next three months... which will coincide seamlessly with the start of pool season in urbanisations up and down the Coast! So, without further ado, here are five areas where you'll find loads of apartments for sale with a community pool.

5 bustling residential areas

1. Benalmádena

The original tourist and expat destination, Benalmádena is more than well-stocked when it comes to residential complexes with onsite pools. Arroyo de la Miel is especially popular, although the town spreads as far as Torrequebrada to the west and includes the beautiful Benalmádena Pueblo, too.

2. La Cala de Mijas

Whatever you're looking for, you'll find it in La Cala de Mijas. From golf resorts to smart complexes within walking distance of the buzzing boulevard or sprawling white urbanisations a bit further from the town centre.

There are also a lot of new build projects underway, meaning I predict the area's popularity to go up massively in the near future and the infrastructure for year-round living will get even better, too..

3. Riviera del Sol

Being less than half an hour's drive from the airport makes Riviera del Sol ideal for both tourists and residents. Its population swells in the summer due to the quantity of tourist lets in apartment complexes with pools, which also makes it an excellent investment location for expat home buyers.

4. Estepona

Estepona, apart from being an expansive residential area, also has a superb smattering of large apartment complexes with pools to take a dip at their owners' pleasure. Click on the link below to appreciate just how varied and good value its properties are!

5. Alhaurín Golf, Alhaurín el Grande

This specific urbanisation in Alhaurín el Grande is on this list not necessarily for its wealth of properties for sale, but because it's an excellent inland alternative for lots of expats looking to combine a fantastic quality of life, an extremely well-kept residential complex and all the benefits of being just steps away from the golf course.
