Michelle Keegan has forbade Mark Wright from planning his stag do in Marbella

It comes to something when you can hit the headlines for choosing NOT to go somewhere, but that is exactly what has happened in the UK with the recent news that former The Only Way is Essex (TOWIE) star Mark Wright has been banned from visiting Marbella for his stag do by wife-to-be, Coronation Street actress Michelle Keegan.

The Corrie beauty is reportedly rather nervous about the prospect of Wright, 27, hitting up the beaches and clubs of the famously decadent resort and so has ordered the radio and TV presenter to celebrate his last few weeks of freedom elsewhere…

A source close to the couple told HEAT magazine: “Marbs was the first choice for Mark’s stag next year. He’s treated like a king there and has whatever he wants, any time of day.”

Keegan, 26, has other ideas though, despite the fact that she herself is half Spanish. “Michelle would absolutely hate him going there,” said the source. “Everyone knows what goes on in Marbs and that girls in bikinis would be throwing themselves at Mark left, right and centre.

“He’d get led astray. It would be a completely mad, over-the-top few days and even if nothing happened, there would be speculation that it had.”

The source’s scientific analysis of the possible ramifications of ‘Mark in Marbella’ didn’t end there, with the anonymous mouthpiece adding: “Michelle has made herself very clear. It’s caused a bit of tension, as Mark feels under pressure from both sides – his mates, and Michelle. He doesn’t want to have to consult Michelle every time he plans an event.”

The couple, who were engaged last year, are regular faces on the Marbella nightlife scene, as are much of the cast of both TOWIE and Coronation Street. But even though Mr. Wright has good Costa del Sol connections and wouldn’t – apparently – have to pay for a thing while in Marbella, his future wife has put her foot down.

Still, although Marbella is off the cards, Wright has been permitted to consider the delights of Dubai, Las Vegas, Los Angeles or Miami – destinations that Keegan has no problems with, according to the source.

Perhaps he could slake his thirst for southern Spain, and remain in Keegan’s good books, by avoiding Marbella and checking out some of the resort’s neighbouring attractions, such as the whitewashed villages of Mijas, the dazzling beauty of Benahavís or the historical splendour of Granada?

These places might lack somewhere as hedonistic as Ocean Club, but they each drip with charm and character. Or he could be even smarter and exclusively visit Puerto Banús, avoiding ‘Marbella’ altogether and thereby respecting his future wife’s wishes… either way, it is a conundrum for our times.
