When do you know that summer in Spain has arrived? When the mercury tops 30c? Well, that’s a good sign, but sometimes the temperature soars prematurely on the Costa del Sol (not that anybody minds, of course), so it’s an inaccurate measurement.
You could ask the hotels, but then most of them are fully booked from April onwards. School holidays come too late, around mid-July, when the summer is already in full swing. And the beautiful beaches of the Costa del Sol? Well they’re appealing all year round, so you can’t rely on how busy they are to tell you when summer has arrived…
Nope, the most accurate bellwether for summer is the arrival of British celebrities to the beach bars and super clubs of Marbella. Hot on the heels of the TOWIE cast’s appearance in Puerto Banús, popstar and reality TV fave Tulisa arrived in Marbella – and wasted no time attracting the paps and the chaps as she and best friend Chelsee Healey partied it up at Ocean Club.
The former X Factor judge showed off her bikini body and brand new tattoo as she swigged champagne and tottered around on skyscraper black heels while drawing admiring glances from the nearby menfolk.
The 24-year-old star, freshly single after splitting from footballer Danny Simpson, sprayed champagne and soaked up the Spanish sunshine. Eagle-eyed onlookers were able to take a snap of her new tattoo, which reads ‘Lucky You’ and is adorned with a four-leaf clover, sitting just above her bikini line.
But that cheeky bit of ink wasn’t the only thing on people’s lips. Tulisa spent much of the day in the arms of a tanned hunk, who was barely away from her side as she spoke to fans and friends. Although she has said she’s happy to be single for a while, Marbella has a certain way of bringing people together.
So there you have it: summer has arrived. The parties are in full swing, the sun is shining, the drinks are flowing and the fun won’t stop. At least not until, ooh, October. So what are you waiting for?
